High Point Ranked No. 24 in TopDrawerSoccer Preseason National Poll

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point University men's soccer team has been ranked No. 24 in the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason National Poll, which was released on Monday.

Under Head Coach Zach Haines, HPU has been ranked six out of his seven years (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025) with the Panthers receiving votes in 2023. HPU earned the program and school's highest national ranking in 2024 when United Soccer Coaches tabbed the Panthers at No. 11, while TopDrawerSoccer ranked High Point No. 2 in the nation.

Now, High Point carries a top-24 ranking into the 2025 season and hosts a ranked Georgetown team in the regular-season opener on Thursday, August 21 at 7 p.m. The Hoyas have been ranked in three different polls: No. 8 (CollegeSoccerNews), No. 14 (TopDrawerSoccer), and No. 25 (United Soccer Coaches).

The Panthers have become accustomed to besting some of the nation's top teams as High Point has defeated: No. 1 Pittsburgh, No. 7 Maryland, North Carolina, Duke, No. 25 Coastal Carolina and tied No. 2 Georgetown with Haines at the helm.

In Thursday's season opener, it will be the first time HPU has hosted Georgetown at Vert Stadium while being the first matchup since drawing with the Hoyas in 2022 at their place. The Panthers are 0-1-1 all-time versus Georgetown as the initial meeting was in 2021 in a 0-2 loss. HPU will vie for its first victory over Georgetown in the season opener; a tally in the win column to begin the new campaign at home.
