ELON, N.C.—The High Point University women's track and field team won six events at the Phoenix Invite Saturday (April 15) in Elon.

Senior
Jamie Schnuck broke the school record in the hammer throw for the second-consecutive week, winning the event with a mark of 56.08m (184-0). Junior
Makenzi Holmes-DiGiovine placed fourth with a throw of 45.85m (150-5).

In the 800 meters, sophomore
Keaton Case placed first in a time of 2:12.27. Freshman
Kanajzae Brown swept the sprints, winning the 100 in 12.43 and the 200 in 25.52.

Senior
Cozette Collin won the 1,500 meters with a season-best time of 4:34.81, while fellow senior
Natalia Ocasio was second in 4:36.77.

In the javelin, junior
Mackenzie Vermette placed second with a PR of 36.40m (119-5). Holmes-DiGiovine was third in the discus with a throw of 47.73m (156-7), while freshman
Allison Torrance was fifth with a PR of 40.19m (131-10).

Sophomore
Charlotte Morrow hit a mark of 5.50m (18-0.75) in her first collegiate long jump, placing second, while freshman Ariel Wilbeken was third with a jump of 5.37m (17-7.5). Senior
Amanda Gregory was fifth (5.24m – 17-2.5).

Freshman
Heather Keck cleared a season-high bar of 3.60m (11-10) to finish second in the pole vault.

In the 400m hurdles, sophomore
Emmy Geis placed third in 1:04.97.

The 4x100m relay team crossed the line first in 47.47, a school season-best mark.

"The highlight was us today was Jamie's big throw in the hammer, inching her way towards qualifying for the first round of NCAAs," HPU head coach
Mike Esposito said. "Kanajzae with two wins into headwinds was also good to see. When she gets fully healthy, she will be a handful for the rest of the conference.

"With the Big South Championships 20 days away, things are coming together, we just need to get completely healthy."

Next weekend (April 21-22), most of the Panthers will head to Durham, N.C., for the Duke Invitational, while a select few student-athletes will compete at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va.
