High Point University women's soccer head coach
Marty Beall announced on Wednesday that 15 players will join the women's soccer program for the 2014 season. The class is comprised of two goalkeepers, six defenders, one midfielder and six forwards.

Becca Rolfe (Nashville, Tenn.),
Taylor Romano (Johnson, N.Y.) and
Becca Sweredoski (Huntingtown, Md.) will enroll at HPU and join the team for the upcoming season.
"We have a great group of returners for next year and the freshmen we've added will compliment them immediately," Beall said. "Obviously this is a big class numbers wise. But it's an even bigger class in terms of quality. This class provides excellent depth at every single position. I love how versatile these players are. They will allow the coaching staff many options as far as which system we can play and we will be able to play a lot of players each games without the level of play dropping. One of my favorite things about this class is the character of these young ladies. They will be great ambassadors for our women's soccer family and our extraordinary university."
Jordan Beets is a goalkeeper from Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville, Tenn. She started four seasons in goal and recorded 36 career shutouts, including 13 as a senior. Beets is a three-time All-State and All-Region selection and was named the District Goalkeeper of the Year in 2012 and 2013. She was selected first-team Prep-Xtra by the Knoxville News Sentinel in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Beets is a member of the Tennessee ODP Team. She plays her club soccer with FC Alliance and helped lead the team to four Tennessee State Championships.
"I chose High Point University not only because the school exceeded all my expectations for a college, but the atmosphere felt like one big family," Beets said. "On my first visit I completely fell in love with the idea of attending HPU, it just clicked. Meeting with the coaching staff and some of the players helped me realize that this was the school for me. I cannot picture myself anywhere else."
Meredith Dunker is a forward from Southeast Guilford High School in Greensboro, N.C. She has 57 goals and 43 assists in three years of prep soccer at Southeast Guilford. Dunker is a three-time All-Region and All-Conference selection and was named honorable mention All-State as a junior in 2013. Dunker plays her club soccer with NC Fusion and helped the team reach the U17 State Cup Finals.
"I chose High Point University because the coaching staff and players made me feel part of a family right from the start," Dunker said. "HPU is by far the most impressive campus I visited, and I know I will get a great education there. I am so excited to be able to fulfill my dream to play college soccer in a gorgeous stadium with such amazing coaches and talented teammates. I cannot imagine playing anywhere else."
Lindsay Elsen is a forward from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky. Elsen is a two-time first-team All-State selection and a four-time All-Region honoree. She is a four-time Offensive Team MVP who led her team in goals and assists in 2013 and in assists in 2012. Elsen guided her prep team to two District Championships and four-straight appearances in the district final from 2010 to 2013. She plays her club team with Lexington FC Premier. The club won five State Championships including four-straight from 2010-2013.
"After visiting several schools, none of them compared to High Point," Elsen said. "Nowhere else gave me that sense of "belonging". The atmosphere and people at High Point made it feel like my home away from home."
Bri Jean-Charles is a forward from Clarkstown High School South in New City, N.Y. She finished her prep career with 93 goals, including 21 hat tricks, and 54 assists. She is a four-time All-League and All-Section selection and a three-time All-State selection. Jean-Charles was named the Rockland County Girls Soccer Player of the Year as a freshman and was twice named the Clarkstown South Fall Athlete of the Year. She helped to lead her prep team to three section championships and two appearances in the state finals. Jean-Charles plays club soccer with the World Class Soccer Club, which won the New York State Championship in 2010.
"I chose HPU because of the atmosphere and positive energy that surrounds it," Jean-Charles said. "The genuine interest and support that the staff and students show one another makes being at school so far from home a much easier adjustment. My decision to commit to HPU was definitely an easy one."
Madi Lawrence is a defender from Severna Park High School in Severna Park, Md. Lawrence helped lead Severna Park to the state finals in 2011. She plays her club soccer at Premier Soccer Club. During her time with Premier, Lawrence helped the team win four-straight Maryland State Championships.
"From the second I drove onto campus, I knew High Point was the perfect choice for me," Lawrence said. "It gave me a chance to pursue academic excellence as well as be a part of something very special athletically. What really sold me was the coaching staff, team and how they made me feel so wanted from the beginning."
Brooke Lazarus is a defender from Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla. She has 22 assists in her prep career and has helped her team post 42 shutouts. Lazarus was named first-team All-County as a senior and was selected to the Broward County Senior All-Star Game. Lazarus is a member of the Region III ODP team and plays her club soccer with Orlando City ECNL.
"Surrounding myself with extraordinary people will only make me a better person," Lazarus said. "Besides feeling at home with the amazing coaching staff and soccer team, HPU is truly an incredible place and perfect fit for me. I can't wait to begin the next chapter in my life."
Paige Lloyd is a defender from Flint High School in Fairfax, Virginia. She was named to the ISL All-League team as a senior after helping Flint reach the 2013 conference finals. Lloyd plays her club soccer with McLean ECNL 95'. The team reached the ECNL finals in 2013 and was the Virginia State Cup Champion in 2011.
"High Point University offers the perfect balance of athletic and academic opportunities to help me thrive in the future," Lloyd said. "The campus environment and mentality really distinguished itself from other colleges. I felt comfortable when I visited and I knew High Point would be a good a fit for me."
Aley Kate McKinley is a forward from Spring-Ford High School in Collegeville, Pa. She was named to the 2013 PA PIAA All-State team in 2013 after finishing the season with 16 goals and 12 assists. She was also named to the 2013 All-Southeastern PA first team and the 2013 Pioneer Athletic Conference first team. As a junior in 2012, McKinley finished with 12 goals and nine assists and was named honorable mention All-Conference. She helped her prep team win the Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship and reach the Class AAA State Finals in 2013.
"From my very first visit, I knew that High Point University was the place for me," McKinley said. "From its academic excellence to its beautiful campus, HPU truly has it all. The girls and coaching staff have created a family atmosphere that is welcoming and inspiring. HPU will offer me opportunities to better myself both as a person and as a soccer player. I can't imagine a more perfect fit for me and can hardly wait for it all to start."
Michele Micciche is a forward from Highland High School in Leesburg, Va. She has posted 32 goals and 21 assists in her first three seasons and is a three-time first-team All-District selection. Micchiche was twice named to the All-State team, including a first-team selection as a junior in 2013. She was also named the 2013 Conference Player of the Year. The forward played a key role in helping her prep team reach the state finals in 2013. Micchiche plays her club soccer with VSA Heat. The team won the Disney Showcase Championship in 2013 and the Virginia State Championship in 2010 and 2012.
"I chose High Point University because from the moment I toured the campus to the day I committed, I fell more and more in love with it and my new family every day," Micciche said. "HPU is my dream school."
Alex Persiani is a goalkeeper from Barron Collier High School in Estero, Fla. She is a three-time All-Area, All-County and All-Conference selection. She helped lead Barron Collier to a District Championship in 2013, making a career-high 18 saves in the championship game. Persiani is a member of the Florida State ODP team and the Region III ODP team. She was selected to travel with the Region III team to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and posted three shutouts in her three games played. Persiani plays club soccer with Orlando City ECNL. She previously played with the Chicago Fire Juniors Florida team, helping to lead the squad to a Nike Cup Championship.
"HPU was unlike any other school I visited," Persiani said. "The amazing academic opportunities and the unbelievable campus sold it for me. The incredible and supportive coaching staff and the genuine closeness of the girls on the team were all factors that helped me make my final decision. I am so excited to begin my college experience at a school I love while playing the sport I love. I look forward to contributing to the teams success."
Jess Potts is a defender from Bartram Trail High School in Jacksonville, Fla. As a freshman, Potts scored three goals from her defender position. Her prep team reached the Regional Quarterfinals in 2012-13 and won the 3A District 4 Championship in 2013-14. Potts plays her club soccer with Creeks Clash Soccer. She helped the club reach the 2013 Florida State Cup Finals.
"The moment I first stepped onto campus I knew that I wanted to go to High Point," Potts said. "I love the countless opportunities the students are offered here and how excellence is instilled in every aspect of the school. The extraordinary education I know I will receive here is second to none. It wasn't long before I realized that High Point was the perfect fit for me both academically and athletically. The coaching staff and players were so welcoming the first time I met them. I love the family atmosphere that Coach Beall and Coach Fontaine have created within the team. The more I interacted with the girls; I knew that I wanted to be a part of the HPU women's Soccer family. I know I will grow not only as a soccer player, but also as a person throughout my journey at High Point and I am looking forward to it."
Annie Redovian is a defender from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tenn. Redovian started 58-straight games at Battle Ground Academy, leading her team in minutes played as a freshman, sophomore and junior. She has 33 career points on 12 goals and nine assists. Redovian is a member of the Tennessee State ODP team and plays her club soccer with the Tennessee Soccer Club. She helped lead her club team to appearances in the state finals in 2011 and 2013.
"I chose HPU because every aspect of my visit to campus was incredible, including my interaction with the soccer team," Redovian said. "It was amazing to see the over the top facilities and hear about the School of Communication. Everyone I met was wonderful and they all seemed to be inspired by being part of such an amazing place."
Becca Rolfe is a forward from Ensworth High School in Nashville, Tenn. Rolfe is a three-time All-State and All-Region selection at Ensworth High School. She helped her prep team reach the state quarterfinals her senior year. Rolfe plays club soccer with the Tennessee Soccer Club and won the state championship in 2010.
"I wanted to go to college in the South and after visiting several schools I had the chance to meet Coach Marty and Coach Brandi," Rolfe said. "Once I met the team and toured the extraordinary campus, I knew that there was no other place I wanted to be. It is a blessing to know that the coaches really care about the individual growth of their players. I could already feel the sense of family on my first visit to High Point."
Taylor Romano is a midfielder from Minisink Valley High School in Johnson, N.Y. Romano had 20 goals and 16 assists in her final to season at Minisink Valley and was named as an All-State nominee in 2013. She led her prep team to a Section 9 championship in 2010 and a runner-up finish the next season. Romano plays her club soccer with World Class FC and won the N.Y. State Cup Championship with her club in 2010.
"I chose High Point because of its exceptional academics, it's gorgeous campus, and it's amazing facilities," Romano said. "I also have a once in a lifetime opportunity to play with the HPU women's soccer family. It is a perfect fit for me and I couldn't be any more excited."
Becca Sweredoski is a defender from Huntingtown High School in Huntingtown, Md. Sweredoski was named first-team All-County and first-team All-Conference in 2013. She has helped to lead Huntingtown to three appearances in the state championship game and a Maryland State Championship in 2011. Sweredoski is a former member of the Maryland State ODP team and plays her club soccer with Maryland United FC. The defender was part of Maryland United's 2013 Maryland State Championship squad. "From the first time I stepped on the grounds of High Point University in seventh grade, I knew this was the place I wanted to spend my collegiate years," Sweredoski said. "Everyone that I met at HPU treated me as an individual and truly cared about my future. HPU will provide the extraordinary education, athletics, and experiences I am looking for and will remember for the rest of my life."
High Point returns six starters from its 2013 including leading scorer

Amy Burch. The Panthers will try and build on a season in which they won nine games and posted a 6-4-1 record in the Big South.
