The High Point University women's soccer team recently held a shoebox packing party for Operation Christmas Child, a project sponsored by Samaritans Purse.
The team purchased items such as small toys and school supplies for children and gathered in the Steele Center to pack over 20 shoeboxes with the gifts. The boxes will be delivered around the world to children in impoverished and war-torn areas. The student-athletes also wrote notes to the children who would receive the boxes.
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected over 100 million boxes and delivered them to needy children in over 130 countries. Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine.
