Redshirt-freshman Savannah Angel of the High Point University volleyball team was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday. Angel posted 13 kills and 13 blocks in the Panthers two matches over the weekend.

The middle blocker posted a career-high seven blocks including two solo blocks in High Point's sweep over Winthrop on Friday. She added eight kills and finished the match without an attack error for the second consecutive game. Angel followed that performance with six blocks and five kills against Presbyterian on Saturday.

On the weekend, Angel averaged 1.86 blocks per set and 1.86 kills per set for HPU. She leads all Big South freshmen with 55 total blocks and 10 solo blocks this season.

Last week, junior Kristin Heldt was named Big South Player of the Week. Sophomore Annemarie Chin was twice selected as Big South Defensive Player of the Week and Angel took home Freshman of the Week honors earlier this year as well.

High Point owns a 4-3 mark in league play with a 10-12 overall record this season. The Panthers travel to Buies Creek, N.C. on Friday to take on Campbell at 7 p.m. The match kicks off a five-game road stretch for HPU.
