FINAL RESULTS

Tristan Faure set personal bests in the long jump and shot put and Dakota Peachee ran a PR in the mile for the High Point University men's track & field team. The Panthers competed at the Kent Taylor Invitational hosted by UNC in Chapel Hill, N.C.

“I am very pleased with Tristan's performance,” said head coach Mike Esposito. “It puts him in great position  for the Big South Championship. Dakota competed well today. He is finally healthy and really running  at a high level.”

Peachee ran a personal best 4:17.77 in the mile to place second. He finished three seconds ahead of the third place runner, Big South opponent Chris Schulist from Campbell. Mike Feroe placed ninth in 4:30.26 and Mike Ali came in at 4:35.93 for 14th place.

Faure won his flight and came in third with a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 6.79 meters (22-3.5) on his third attempt. Max Coleman jumped a season-best 6.31 meters (20-8.5) on his second attempt to place ninth.  Faure also competed in the shot put with and set a personal best with a throw of 10.92 meters (35-10). He placed 13th overall.

Freshmen Chris Muggler and Evan Gingrich both set PRs and finished back-to-back in the 800-meter, placing fourth and fifth place, respectively. Muggler clocked in at 1:57.40, taking two seconds off his previous personal best while Gingrich finished in 1:59.10, also a personal record.

Sophomore Evan Emery won his preliminary heat in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.00. In the finals he ran a 7.01 to finish fifth right behind Big South opponent Tyler Long who clocked in at 6.99. Emery also ran the 200-meter, finishing second in his heat and third overall with a time of 22.65.

In the 400-meter, Justin Doehr finished in third place with a time of 49.81. Sebastien Bonnot placed eighth in the event in 51.89. It was a personal best for the senior.

Faure also ran the opening leg of the 4x400 relay with Bonnot, Doehr and Muggler in the other three legs. The Panthers finished third in the event in 3:24.34, taking three seconds off their time from last weekend at UNC.

Senior Alex Fisher placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.47, finishing faster than his 8.49 time in the preliminaries.  Sophomore Ryan Venable came in right behind him with a seventh place finish in 8.55. Venable ran a 8.53 in the prelims.

In his first collegiate attempt at the indoor 3,000-meter, freshman Reese Ayers finished in sixth place with a time of 8:42.05. Classmates Jeff LaCoste and Chris Colo came in ninth and tenth, respectively. LaCoste ran a 8:58.33, while Colo finished in 8:58.48. John Yankello was the last Panther in, placing 15th in 9:05.92.

Next weekend the Panthers will compete at the Fast Track Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
