HPU women's basketball adds transfer Stacia Robertson

High Point University women's basketball coach Jennifer Hoover announced on Tuesday that Stacia Robertson has transferred to HPU from the University of South Dakota and will join the Panthers for the 2012-13 season.

Robertson will have to redshirt the 2011-12 season due to NCAA transfer rules but will be eligible to play in 2012-13 as a redshirt-sophomore.

"We are extremely excited to add Stacia to our Panther family,” Hoover said. “Her versatility and experience at the collegiate level will be invaluable to our program's success. Stacia is a very skilled post player that can step out and shoot the three or get to the basket. She loves to run the floor and her scoring ability and physical presence inside will make an immediate impact for us. She is a tough competitive player who has been very well-coached throughout her career and we are looking forward to seeing her in purple."

The 6-2 forward played for one season at the University of South Dakota where she was named honorable mention All-Great West after averaging 7.9 point and 4.7 rebounds in just 19.4 minutes per game. Robertson appeared in 32 games for the Coyotes with two starts and scored in double-figures in eight of her final 11 games. She recorded two double-doubles on the year including a career high 20 points and 14 rebounds performance in a win over Houston Baptist.

Robertson played her prep career at Grand Island High School in Grand Island, Neb. She averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game as a senior and was named to the Lincoln Journal-Star's Super State first team. She was also named to the Class A first team by the Journal-Star and All-State first-team by the Associated Press. She finished her prep career with 1,143 points and 615 rebounds.
