High Point University recently held the first annual HPU All-Star Lacrosse Camp, hosting women's players of all skill levels. Most of HPU's incoming players attended the camp, giving them a chance to play together for the first time.
"It was a great opportunity for the majority of our new team to be on the field together before preseason training starts on August 30," said HPU head coach Lyndsey Boswell. "We were excited about the upcoming season before camp, but after seeing them on the field together we're even more excited going into fall competition."
The HPU All-Star Lacrosse Camp hosted players with all ranges of skill levels. Many came from North Carolina and South Carolina as well as the Northeast.
"The camp was a great opportunity to develop all skill levels, from players trying to make their high school teams to those getting ready for college competition," said Boswell. "In addition to skill development, it was a great way for our coaching staff to evaluate potential prospects."
Boswell and assistant coaches Whitney Michele and Megan Cassara directed the camp.
The Panthers will begin preseason training on Aug. 30 and will compete in several play days in the fall. Each team is allowed up to five play days during the fall in which they are allowed to play as many games as they choose on those given days. High Point is set for play days at George Mason, Virginia Tech and Limestone College and may add one more.
