2010-11 HPU Women's Lacrosse Schedule

The High Point University women's lacrosse team will open its first season with five exhibition dates in the fall before beginning its spring season by hosting Virginia Tech on Feb. 12 at Vert Stadium. HPU will open its fall slate with an all-day tournament at Limestone College and will host nine games at Vert Stadium in the spring.

"We are really excited to announce our inaugural schedule," said head coach Lyndsey Boswell. "As we were scheduling we tried to look at successful new programs and model ourselves after those teams. The first part of our schedule is challenging and it will help us prepare for conference play, and hopefully for the conference tournament. We attempted to play up north a few times so our team members can play in front of their families and close to their hometowns."

The fall exhibition season will include all-day tournaments at Limestone College on Sept. 25, Virginia Tech on Oct. 2, George Mason on Oct. 23 and William & Mary on Oct. 30. High Point University travel to Greensboro to play two exhibition games at Guilford College on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.

"We are looking forward to the fall competitions to gauge where we are, and what we need to work on going into the spring," Boswell added. "We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I think the girls are more than ready to move forward. I know myself and my staff have anxiously awaited the start of fall ball."

In the spring, HPU will play one final exhibition tournament – South of the Border – hosted by the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Feb. 6 before beginning HPU's first-ever varsity season.

The program opener against Virginia Tech will be on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at Vert Stadium before hosting Cincinnati on Feb. 20 at noon. The Panthers will play Navy in Annapolis, Md., on Feb. 27 before a road game against their first National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) opponent, Presbyterian College, on March 3.

HPU hosts five non-conference games in March – Mount St. Mary's, Wagner, Robert Morris, Binghamton and Fresno State. One NLC road game is in the mix when HPU plays at Jacksonville on March 25.

High Point winds down its regular-season schedule with five NLC games. HPU hosts Howard on April 1 and Detroit on April 3 before going on the road to Longwood on April 10, Liberty on April 13 and Davidson on April 16.

The National Lacrosse Conference Tournament will be held the weekend of April 28-May 1. The site and format will be determined in the near future.
