Several members of the High Point University women's soccer class of 2010 finished their final prep season this past spring, adding to their already impressive list of awards and accolades.
In her final prep season,
Brooke Lisson led Wando High School to the South Carolina 4A State Championship and a No. 2 national ranking by the NSCAA . The midfielder was named the 2010 Player of the Year and a member of the All-Low County Team by the Post and Courier. She was also named to the 2009-10 SCHSSCA All-State Team. Lisson played for the South team at the 2010 SCHSSCA North-South Soccer Classic on June 19.
Goalkeeper
Amanda McGowan ended her prep career by helping to guide Conestoga Valley High School to a Lancaster Lebanon League Section Two Championship and a 17-5-3 overall record. McGowan was named first team All-Lancaster Lebanon League and the MVP of Section Two. A four-year starter for the Lady Bucks, McGowan finished with an overall record of 53-27-4 and her 42 career shutouts are a Conestoga Valley record.
Kelli Joline was named Girls' Soccer Player of the Year by the Lancaster Newspapers and was named All-State for the third-straight year. Joline scored 16 goals and had 10 assists in her senior campaign, finishing with a Hempfield school record 54 career goals and 28 career assists.
Alexi Parpan was named to the NCIHSAA 2A All-State team as well as the Eastern Plains Independent Conference All-Conference Team and Player of the Year. Parpan had 13 goals and 12 assists to help lead Cary Christian to its fourth-straight conference championship and its second straight state runner-up finish. Parpan finished her prep career with 41 goals and 40 assists, reaching the state finals in each of her four seasons.
Cary Ann Parrish served as varsity captain in her final high school season when she helped to lead Valley Christian to a 12-8-6 overall record and its third-straight conference championship. Parrish leadership and hard work was rewarded as she was named to the All-Conference team for a third consecutive year.
The Panthers return six starters from a team which won the Big South Tournament and earned a bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the third time since 2003. HPU lost to eventual NCAA Champion North Carolina, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA tournament, its closest loss in three tries against the Tar Heels.
