Chandler and Reynolds named All-American Scholars

Two members of the High Point University women's golf team have been selected as National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar team members for NCAA Division I. Senior Lisa Chandler was recognized for the third time by the NGCA while sophomore Laura Reynolds earned her first career recognition.

Chandler competed in six events for the Panthers during the 2009-10 campaign and finished the season with an 84.07 stroke average. Her highest finish of the season came at the Draper Invitational where she carded a 36-hole score of 161 to finish tied for 24th. Chandler was High Point's top finisher in the Draper as well as the Winthrop Intercollegiate (29th) and the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate (t-35th). During her collegiate career, Chandler played in 30 events and 67 rounds. Her career-best finish came at the 2007 Diet Coke-Wofford Invitational when she finished in a tie for 17th. Chandler was named to the 2009-10 Big South All-Academic Team and was a Millis Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll.

Reynolds took part in five events during her sophomore season for HPU, finishing with an 81.92 stroke average. Her best finish of the season came at the Richmond spider Invitational where she shot back-to-back rounds of 79 to card a 36-hole score of 158 and finish tied for 28th. She was the Panthers No. 2 finisher at the 2010 Big South Championship, shooting a 54-hole score of 243 to finish tied for 30th. Reynolds career best finish came during her freshman campaign when she finished tied for eighth at the 2008 Eat a Peach Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 239. She was a Millis Scholar-Athlete in 2009-10 and a member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll.

To be honored by the NGCA as an All-American Scholar one must follow a list of very strict criteria; you must hold a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
