Junior outfielder
Nate Roberts of the High Point University baseball team continues to accumulate post season honors after being named a third-team All-America selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA). Roberts is the first Panther ever to earn NCBWA All-America honors.
Roberts led the nation in runs scored (88) and on-base percentage (.573), both of which were HPU and Big South single-season records. The Spring Grove, Ill. native was named the 2010 Big South Conference Player of the Year while leading the conference with a .416 batting average, 19 home runs and 53 walks. He also stole 36 bases and was hit by 25 pitches while driving in 69 runs.
He was also a third team All-America honoree by Ping!Baseball and was named to the 2010 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State baseball team. Roberts was a fifth round pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 2010 MLB Draft.
Roberts helped the Panthers to a 31-29 overall record, the most wins for HPU in a Division I season. HPU's offense set program records in batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, runs scored, RBI, walks and stolen bases.
