The High Point University women's golf team finished the first day of the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational in 16th place out of 17 teams with a combined team score of 329. Freshman
Audra McShane was the top Panther finisher on the first day, shooting a seven-over 79.
McShane had two birdies in her first round of the spring season to finish the day tied for 40th. Fellow freshman
Jessica Neese finished three strokes behind McShane with an opening round 82 to end the round in a tie for 68th. Senior

Kristina Wagner ended the day tied for 80th with identical 18-hole scores of 84. Freshman
Danielle Lamy finished tied for 85th with an opening round 85 to round out the HPU golfers at the event.
Central Arkansas ended the first day of competition atop the team standings with a combined team score of 299. South Florida ended the day four strokes back of the lead with a combined score of 303 to end the day in second. Kennesaw State finished third with a score of 304 while Stetson and Florida Golf Coast University each shot 305 on the day to finish tied for fourth.
Illinois' Hailey Koschmann recorded the only round 70, shooting an opening-round 69 to take a three-stroke lead after the first day. East Carolina's Abby Bools and Jacksonville's Jessica Williams will enter the second round tied for second after ending the first round with identical scores of 72 through 18 holes.
The Panthers will return to the Eagle Landing Golf Club tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., for the second of three rounds at JMU/Eagle Invitational in Orange Park, Fla.
