Sophomore
Shamia Brown was named to the Big South Conference Women's Basketball All-Tournament team the conference announced on Sunday. Brown averaged 11.5 points and eight rebounds per game for the Panthers in contests against Winthrop and Liberty.
In the quarterfinals against No. 6 Winthrop, Brown had a double-double with a team-best 15 points and 14 rebounds. The sophomore shot 6-15 in the game and also tied a career high with four steals. In the semifinal matchup against the Flames, Brown scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds.
This is the third straight year that an HPU player has been included on the All-Tournament team. Junior
Mackenzie Maier was named to the All-Tournament team in 2009 and junior
Jurica Hargraves was named to the team in 2008.
High Point finished 17-14 on the season with a 9-7 mark in the Big South. The 17 wins is the most for HPU since the 2006-07 season when the team went 18-12.
