FINAL RESULTS

The High Point University men's golf team finished in 12th out of 15 teams at the 2010 Wendy's Charleston Shootout with a cumulative three-round score of 913 on Monday in Hollywood, S.C. Sophomore Curtis Brotherton was the Panthers top finisher, shooting 221 over 54 holes to finish tied for 18th.

After shooting 300 in the opening round on Sunday, HPU shot a second-round 306 and a final round 307 to finish at 913. Brotherton and freshman Chase Wilson both shot 75 to tie for the best team score in round two while Brotherton turned in the lone top score in round three with a 73.

Junior Nick Goins finished second among the High Point golfers with a three-round score of 226 following his 75 on Sunday with a second round 76 and a final round 75. Junior Evan LaRocque finished with a 54-hole score of 236 (73-80-83) to end the event tied for 63rd. Wilson finished one stroke behind LaRocque, shooting 75 in the second round and 83 in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 237. Junior DJ Dougherty rounded out the Panther golfers, finishing in 77th place with a total score of 245. Dougherty shot 87 in the second round before rebounding to shoot 76 in the third and final round.

Day-one leader Georgia finished atop the team standings with a total team score of 846. The Bulldogs finished 20 strokes ahead of second-place finisher, the College of Charleston. Stephen F. Austin State finished in third with a three-round score of 885, four-strokes better than both Gardner-Webb and host Charleston Southern who finished with identical team scores of 889.

Georgia's Russell Henley finished atop the individual standings shooting 69 in each round to finish with a score of 207 through three rounds and win the individual medal. Henley finished one stroke ahead of teammate Harris English who finished with a 54-hole score of 208. The College of Charleston's John Duke Hudson shot 212 through three rounds to finish alone in third.

The Panthers next travel to Pooler, Ga., to play in the Lonnie Barton Invitational. The team tees up on Monday, March 8, for first-round action.
