Women's golf adds two for 2011-12 season

Head Women's Golf Coach Vici Pate Flesher has signed two players to her first recruiting class at High Point University as Grier Bennett and Kaila Tuccio each signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Panthers in the fall.

“High Point University is gaining two quality golfers and people in Grier and Kaila,” Pate said. “Success is no stranger to either and both will help our team tremendously. Grier is a 3-time state champion in two sports. She is athletic, competitive and talented. Kaila has extensive tournament experience and is a very dedicated golfer. She carried a 78 tournament stroke average this summer and looks to improve on that even more. This team will be looking forward to working towards the success of our program, just as all of our other athletic teams have done before us here at High Point.”

Bennett attends Jessieville High School in Hot Springs, Ark., where she is a four-year letter winner. She won the Arkansas 3A Golf Championship in both 2009 and 2010. Bennett turned in an all-time low round of 70 at the 2009 District Tournament.

Tuccio attends Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Windermere Fla., where she has been a four-year captain and the No. 1 player for all four season. She is a two-time All-Conference honoree and a member of the Florida Junior Tour. Tuccio placed second at the prestigious AJGA at Chateau Elan, Georgia.

The Panthers begin their spring season on March 6 at the Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate in Myrtle Beach, N.C.
