Academic Support
High Point University's student-athlete services seek to enhance student-athlete academic growth and personal development. Services provided include the following:
·An extensive Academic Support Program involving
o Structured study program
o Tutoring services
o Academic advising
o Monitoring of athletic eligibility
· CHAMPS/Life Skills (Challenging Athletes Minds for Personal Success): A program that provides a wide variety of activities from interview techniques to community service projects to informative presentations to inspirational speakers.
· Student-Athlete Advisory Committee A Committee comprised of members for each of the intercollegiate sports that serves as the voice for the student-athlete population with special emphasis on NCAA legislation and its effect on student-athletes, academic achievement, CHAMPS/Life Skills programs, community outreach programs, and well-being issues and other general concerns facing student-athletes at High Point University.
· Student-Athlete Mentors>: A group made up of upperclassmen student-athletes that aims to provide freshmen student-athletes with both information and opportunities that will help ensure that their days as both a HP student and athlete are meaningful and safe.
Additionally, by working closely with various on-campus resources, such as the Academic Services Center and Career Center, the Department of Athletics can truly provide broad-based services for its student-athletes.
