The High Point University baseball team hosts Richmond Wednesday for the final of a two-game series at Williard Stadium. Freshman
Zach Haile (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) will make his first start of the season taking on Richmond’s junior right hander Anthony Cafagna. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
High Point is off to the best start in the Division I era with an 8-2 record. The Panthers are also riding a school-record, seven-game win streak.
Haile will make his first start tonight, having made two appearances in relief with a 1-0 record. He has two walks and two strikeouts in 3-1/3 innings of relief.
On Tuesday HPU beat Richmond 5-4. Four HPU pitchers combined to give up four runs on eight hits while striking out 12 Richmond batters, with
Kyle Starnes (Lake Panasoffkee, Fla./South Sumter) picking up his first win of the season.
Murray White IV (High Point, N.C./Ledford) went 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.
