        <description>The High Point University women's cross country and track &amp; field team will welcome 11 newcomers for the 2009-10 season, head coach Mike Esposito announced on Thursday. The recruiting class is very strong in the distance and middle distance events and will help the Panthers contend for Big South titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor track in the upcoming season.</description>

	<title>Former HPU Major Leaguer to be inducted to Guilford Sports Hall</title>        
        <description>Richard "Dick" Broadus Culler, who attended High Point University from 1932-36 and went on to play Major League Baseball for eight seasons, will be inducted to the Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 21 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Culler was a three-sport star at High Point in the 1930s, playing baseball, basketball and soccer.</description>

        <description>Former High Point University catcher Billy Alvino made his professional debut on Monday, playing two innings for the GCL Tigers of the Gulf Coast League. Alvino was signed into the Detroit Tigers organization last week after earning All-Big South honors while hitting .400 for the Panthers in 2009.</description>

	<title>Sabath named volleyball assistant</title>        
        <description>Jessica Sabath has been named assistant coach of the High Point University volleyball team, head coach Jason Oliver announced on Thursday. Sabath played volleyball at Eastern Kentucky from 2003-06, where she was a first-team All-Ohio Valley Region selection and set the EKU record for career digs. Most recently, Sabath was assistant coach with the Kaepa Eastside Cleveland Juniors in Eastlake, Ohio.</description>
